Stainless steel flange simplified as SS flange, it refers to the flanges that made of stainless steel, a disc-shaped pipe fitting used to connect pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment. It has a hole in the center and bolt holes around the perimeter. There are several different types of flanges, including welded, lap joint, blind, and many others. Its common material standards and Grades are ASTM A182 Grade F304/L and F316/L, with pressure ratings from Class 150, 300, 600 etc and to 2500.

Our stainless steel flanges are available in different types of connections (RTJ, threaded, slip-on, socket weld, etc.) without the need for welding, reducing the cost of repairing downtime.

Another type of stainless steel used in manufacturing stainless steel goods is electronics 316L stainless steel. In cameras and other electrical equipment, flanges are crucial. Flanges are used to join two different pieces, such as a lens glass and the rest of the camera's body, rather than to withstand high pressures in camera systems and other digital equipment.

Stainless Steel 304L Flanges and bolts are often used to join two portions of a large, enclosed space. The interaction between a car's engine and transmission is a nice illustration. In this instance, both the engine and the gearbox have a number of parts that, if they come into touch with dust or other tiny objects, might suffer immediate harm. By joining the outside casings of the engine and transmission, engineers may safeguard their internal components.

Weld neck flanges have a long tapered hub that can be welded to a pipe and are primarily used in high pressure, severe and critical applications. The tapered hub transfers stresses from the flange to the pipe providing high strength reinforcement that counteracts dishing. Weld neck flanges are connected to the pipe by a single full penetration V-shaped butt weld. Their severe condition applications include high or sub-zero temperatures, and handling fluids that are hazardous and volatile.

Slip-On Flanges

As the name suggests, slip-on flanges are designed to slide over the end of piping and then connect to the pipe or the fittings with two fillet welds, one inside and another outside the cavity of the flange. They are ideal for lower pressure applications and provide easy and low-cost installation. The bore size of a slip-on flange is larger than the outside diameter of the pipe, allowing the pipe to slide inside the flange for the weld connection.

Socket weld flanges are typically used in small, high-pressure piping. They are connected to pipes using a single fillet weld on the outer side of the flange, which is different from slip-on flanges which require two welds. Though they may appear similar to a slip-on flange, their internal pocket design has a smooth bore providing a superior fluid flow. A socket weld flange's fatigue strength is 50% greater than double welded slip-on flanges due to the single internal weld.

Reducing flanges are used to decrease the bore of a pipeline when there is a requirement for a change in pipe size. They have one specified diameter with a smaller diameter bore size. The bore of the run pipe can be safely reduced by only 1 or 2 sizes, otherwise a combination of a butt weld reducer and a standard flange is recommended. A reducing flange has dimensions of the larger pipe size except for the bore and hub dimensions. Threaded flanges, welding neck and slip-on can also be used as reducers and are an economical way to make a pipe size conversion.

The second vital factor to consider when selecting the right stainless steel flange is the material. Stainless steel flanges come in various grades of steel, such as 304, 316, and 347. You need to select the right material based on the environment in which the flange will operate.

Flanges come in different types, such as socket weld, threaded, and slip-on flanges. Select the flange type compatible with your piping system, providing a secure and robust connection. For example, threaded flanges are recommended for smaller pipe sizes, while larger ones use slip-on flanges.

The flange gaskets are the rubber or metal seals that go between the flanges and the pipes to create a tight and leak-free connection. They are exposed to high temperatures, pressure, and vibrations, so they can wear out, crack, or blow out over time. You need to inspect and replace the flange gaskets regularly to prevent exhaust leaks, noise, and emissions problems.

The flange bolts are the metal fasteners that hold the flanges and the gaskets together. They are also subject to corrosion, rust, and seizing, which can make them hard to remove or tighten. You need to clean and lubricate the flange bolts regularly to prevent them from getting stuck or breaking. You can lubricate the bolts by applying a thin layer of anti-seize compound or grease to the threads and the heads before installing them. This will help them slide in and out easily and prevent them from seizing or galling.

The final step to maintain and clean your exhaust flanges is to align and tighten them properly after cleaning or replacing them. You need to align the flanges so that they are parallel and flush with each other, and that they match the shape and direction of the pipes. You also need to tighten the bolts evenly and gradually, using a torque wrench or a socket wrench, to create a secure and leak-free seal.

A: There are numerous flanges developed to support varying pipelines and plumbing works. Some of the most commonly accessed flanges include slip-on flanges, weld neck flanges, socket weld flanges, and blind flanges.

A: Flanges are used to connect pipes, valves, fittings, and other equipment. They can be threaded or welded. They are commonly used in low-pressure applications, such as water and gas pipelines, and are easy to install and dismantle.

A: ASME B16. 5 is a dimensional standard applied to pipe flanges and flange fittings, including stainless steel. ASME B16. 34 is a pressure/temperature rating applied to threaded and welded valves used to connect flanges.

A: Pipe flanges are available in multiple types. In fact, they can be classified by facing type, shape, specification and material grade. Within these types, there are standard types (welding neck, slip-on, threaded, socket weld, lap joint, blind, etc.) and some special types (expander/reducer, swivel, orifice, etc.).

A: Maintenance of paints is one of the most common methods that help to prevent corrosion. Maintenance paints are commonly urethane or epoxy-based coatings. Most maintenance paints bond directly to the substrate as a hard coating. With the use of maintenance paints, a perfect amount must be applied.

A: Joining is done using bolts that join two parts together, with a gasket in between to ensure the connection is leak-free. Piping is connected to the flange by use of a threaded connection, or through the use of a stub-end.

Sequential tightening, in stages to 100 % of specified full load, using the cross-bolt.

Final tighten at 100 % of full load.

A: To ensure the correct flange height, you can use the "Perfect Fit Flange Formula": 4x Material Thickness+Bend Radius=Minimum Acceptable Flange Height. This formula guarantees that there's enough material for successful bending.18
